Iraq announced the groundbreaking of its first waste-to-energy facility, which would cost $500 million to establish in the country’s capital, Baghdad.
The project features three incinerator lines, a 100MW steam turbine generating set, with a planned processing capacity of 3,000 tons per day.
When finished, it will produce 780 million kWh of green electricity a year, enough to power 10 million people. Additionally, it will generate about 500 local employment openings.
