Komatsu recently unveiled its new PC220LC-12 and PC220LCi-12 excavators, drawing thousands of visitors eager to witness the machines in action during live outdoor demonstrations. The launch highlighted the machines’ impressive blend of power, efficiency, and operator-focused design.
At the heart of these next-generation excavators is a highly efficient, electronically controlled hydraulic system paired with a powerful 129kW high-torque Komatsu engine. Together, they deliver an 18% reduction in average fuel consumption—saving approximately 2.1 liters per hour compared to the previous model. This improvement not only lowers operating costs but also reduces CO2 emissions per tonne of material moved, contributing to a greener worksite.
Operator comfort takes a major leap forward with a cabin offering 30% more legroom and a new premium seat option. Features like joystick steering, overhead cooling vents, enhanced visibility with a 50% better view on the lower right-hand side, and generous storage options create a more enjoyable and productive working environment.
The PC220LCi-12 further stands out with Komatsu’s latest iMC 3.0 intelligent machine control system—drawing on over a decade of factory-integrated iMC expertise. This advanced technology delivers industry-leading precision and control, making complex tasks simpler and safer.
Complementing the physical upgrades is a state-of-the-art 8-inch high-definition touch-panel monitor, offering operators quick access to machine information and intuitive controls for a seamless user experience.
